Good Samaritan, Sam I Am

Well, I've been staring at the damn five-dollar bill taped to the computer for several days now. I had all kinds of ideas of what to do with it:
  • copy it and start my own counterfeit operation
  • go back to McDonald's and buy something with it (after all, they gave it, why shouldn't they take it?)
  • see if I could deposit it in my bank account
  • give it to the delivery guy last night
I had it wadded in my hand, all ready to palm it off and slam the door, but in the end I couldn't. Even though he could probably take the financial hit better than I (after all, he's a delivery man not a writer), I did the only decent thing: I tore it up.

Yes, mom and dad, you raised me well. You can stop saying novenas; I turned out okay (and five dollars poorer).

Having read your "Good Samaritan, Sam I Am" entry on February 12th,
Abraham Lincoln's original birthday (before he got sardined in with
George Washington on President's Day), it was refreshing to "meet" another honest man. There must be two "somebody's" out there who raised you right and are smiling, ear to ear!
